Dear Dennis, Merrill and Melinda,

'King Of Crystal Palace' Opens May 7

A run-down San Francisco Victorian, replete with drug addiction, anguish and love, is the setting for King of the Crystal Palace,C.D. Arnold's deeply moving drama of a household and a world teetering on the brink of the AIDS crisis. This Los Angeles premiere features William Hayes, author of the book Midnight Express, as Seth and Steven Patterson as Rob, a role he created in the original Theatre Rhinoceros production in San Francisco and for which he received a 1983 Drama-Logue Award. Also included in the cast are Susan Burke, Ken Harris and Vic Trevino. The production is directed and designed by John Sowle with sound design by John Wilson.

I am very impressed with your magazine! I have been directing many of my clients to your magazine and the response has been wonderful. Two of my clients, CASITA DEL CAMPO RESTAURANT and RUDOLPHO'S RESTAURANT have enjoyed enormous response in regards to their daily lunch specials, Saturday Champagne Brunch and 25th Anniversary of Casita Del Campo. CLUB VALENTINO at Rudolpho's is building quite a following, with help from your magazine.

The attitude of your entire staff is a refreshing change from my experiences with a 'rival' publication. My client was unhappy with the layout of his ad and the attitude of the (other) publication was one of total disconcern. My client, HAUTE TENSION, is now advertising with you and I expect the same great working relationship as with my other clients.

Once again, thank you...not only for providing an incredible advertising medium for the community, but also for your concern with your advertisers, and the special treatment you so readily offer.

Thanks again!

Jeffery Bowman

Hotline Training Begins In May

The Hotline program at the Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center in Garden Grove announces a training program for new Hotline monitors. The 40-hour training will be held on five consecutive Sundays, beginning May 31, 1987. The Hotline serves the gay and lesbian community of Orange County, providing a source of information, referrals, AIDS updates, and peer counseling. During the program, the trainees will learn to become effective listeners and peer counselors through lectures, discussions and practical exercises. The Hotline training begins much like an encounter group, but there is a practical side, too, as information is supplied on virtually every aspect of the gay community. To find out more about the Hotline or receive an application, call the Hotline at 534-3261 any day between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
